The marathon will start on September 27, 2010, at 00:00 UTC. The marathon will finish on June 5, 2011, at 23:59 UTC.

The purposes of the event are: - Promote Radiosport, - Identify the best radio-operators -

Usage of ONLINE Internet technology - Applying and development of new forms and methods of judging, - Experience exchange. -

Participation is available for all HF Ham Radio operators accomplishing Terms and Limitations of participant's national Amateur radio license.

To attract young people and anyone who wish to join Amateur Radio we introduce a new entry category - NOVICE.

This category might be used by contestants who did not have an amateur radio license/call sign.

Such participation can only be performed with the use of radios and antennas of licensed operator under his control and responsibility.

Call sign used must be formed by license holder's call sign with added /N at the end. For example: RW0LZ / N

The main criteria for QSO evaluation is a distance between correspondents plus each new DXCC country.

QSO data provision (how many times and how frequently) participants will identify themselves and enter data to the official site of marathon.

Only one QSO per week is valid for final result - with maximum number of points (determined by the program).

QSO's date and time will taken and recorded at UTC.

Contest QSOs are valid as well. If a gap between date of QSO and of upload to the database will be more than 3 weeks,

data entering will be blocked. However input of more recent data and continued participation will be still available.

With any participants only one QSO can be made on each band Only best 30 QSOs conducted during the entire period of the marathon will be counted for final result.

To participate in the marathon raffle the participant must "walk along" more than half way and provide at least 15 QSOs. When deciding to participate in the marathon the operator takes a responsibility: -

To follow the amateur radio regulations of their country at all times -

To follow conditions and rules of the marathon -

To fill out the registration form with the data required for the automatic calculation -

To upload accurate QSO information.

Real-time actual ratings of participants will be displayed on the server, according to the data they entered.

Any participant will be able to view all valid QSOs uploaded by other participants.

Marathon Control Board has a right to use any control methods and tools in case of doubted QSOs

and apply appropriate sanctions including disqualification and removal from the marathon in case if non-existent QSO uploaded.

The solution of the Control Board is final and can not be appealed.

SCORE Points are awarded for QSOs depending on the distance between correspondents.

SCORE Points are awarded for QSOs depending on the distance between correspondents.

Additional coefficient stimulates Low bands' operation, hunting for new DXCC countries

use of home-brew equipment. Home-brew equipment defined as home-brew transceiver used for QSO.

If home-brew transmitter used - use of commercial receiver is allowed.

Use of commercially-made power amplifiers is allowed as well.

QSO distance is defined as a distance between the centre of the correspondent's region location

(location is calculated from the file wl_cty.dat and based on a call-sign's prefix, number and suffix)

and a participant's location, calculated in Grid Locator, provided in registration process.

Minimal number of QSO points - one, any mode, if the distance between correspondents is more than 500 km.

Further step - one point for every 1000 km distance. For example, the distance is 4600 km - it gives 5 points.

The multiplicity is 500 km and is rounded to the nearest digital value. If QSO had been made via "long path", the additional distance is not considered.

Band coefficients (not WARC):

Points

for QSO on 160 meters band - multiplied by 2 Points

for QSO on 80 meters band - multiplied by 1.6 Points

for QSO on 40 meters band - multiplied by 1.3 Points

for QSO on 10 meters band - multiplied by 1.1

Band coefficients (WARC):

Points for QSO on 10 MHz band - multiplied by 1.2

Points for QSO on 18 MHz band - multiplied by 1.1

Points for QSO on 24 MHz band - multiplied by 1.1

Use of home-made transceiver/transmitter coefficient - 1.2

For example:

QSO with UA3DD on 40 meters band - 6345 km 6 x 1.3 = 7.8 points QSO with UA3DD

on 40 meters band, home-brew transceiver - 6345 km 6 x 1.3 = 7.8 x 1.2 = 9.36 points

QSO with G3ERD on 160 meters band - 8458 km 8 x 2 = 16 points

QSO with G3ERD on 20 meters band - 8458 km 8 x 1 = 8 points DXCC countries scores

Number of points per QSO with a new country is equal to points for the distance calculated by the formulas above,

plus 10 points multiplied by the band coefficient as a new country. Every new DXCC country gives 10 points.

Please keep in mind - previously "worked" DXCC country will NOT give you more points

in future even the country will be re-worked on a band with better coefficient.

Results counting Over the entire period of the marathon only 35 QSOs can be made.

However, the final result for each participant will be determined individually as the total score only for the top 30 QSOs.

These 30 QSOs will be selected automatically from a participant's personal log for the entire duration of the marathon

and published in the overall rating the final table online.

AWARDS When results will be summing up the prize fund will be raffled.

The prize fund consists of contributions from the participants, fans' contributions and sponsors contributions.

Seaside Marathon "Call of Distances" winner will be awarded with Main Award - challenge prize, the precious symbol of the marathon -

Telegraph manipulator MERCURY, which will be held by the winner during the end of the next marathon. However,

the winner must return the Award to the organizers one month before the end of each next marathon.

Organizers may require a winner to put in a deposit for the challenge prize. When the prize will be returned,

organizers undertake to return the deposit in full less the cost of transferring money.

First 10 participants who scored the maximum number of points will receive prizes from the organizers and sponsors.

The Control Board will determine the value of each prize, and distribute rewards depending on participant's position in resulting table

(in principle - the higher the position, the more valuable reward).

Member of the marathon, which at the end of the event is under 20 years old and demonstrated the best result,

with at least 15 QSOs made in "young members group" - will be especially encouraged by the organizers of the Primorsky Call of Distance Marathon.

Presentation of special certificate to confirm the fact of the marathon participation,

as well as raffle prize will be organized for those participants who reported more than 15 QSOs made.

In the future, on the basis of already issued certificates, extra reward system will be organized for active radio amateurs participating in all marathons.

The organizers may, if attracted sufficient funds are enough, issue an additional award for those participants who did not receive prizes,

but was made at least 30 QSOs.

During the marathon, at the request of participants, sub-groups, combining radio amateurs on certain important characteristics, will be created.

Scoring for such sub-group will be based on the principle of summation of points from all participants in this subgroup.

At the end of the marathon organizers have the right to the award of the best representatives of the sub-groups.

Marathon team, main sponsors, as well as hams and support specialists who through their activities made a major

contribution to the organization and the possibility of continuing the work of our event "The Call of the Distance" will be presented

with a unique and specially designed corporate distinguishing mark.

We invite sponsors for our Marathon for the formation of the prize fund. Sponsor has a right to establish their criteria of rewarding Marathon participants,

in any category or sub-group, appropriate to Marathon's creative spirit .

Throughout the duration of passage of the Marathon, the Rules of The Marathon is not changed.

Organizers have the right to make changes before the start of the next phase of the marathon only. Good luck in the marathon! Control (arbitration).

1. Verification (Arbitration) Commission will be created to address issues that may arise between the parties and (or) the judging panel, during the marathon.

2. The Commission is made up of the most active and influential radio amateurs and approved by the organizers of the marathon.

3. The commission may include radio amateurs from different regions.

4. Each member of the marathon has a right to appeal to the Control Commission for the claims or protection of their interests.

5. Organizers of the marathon have right to provide the Control Commission power to apply the necessary sanctions including suspension

and disqualification competition in case of input of non-existent QSO or faked call-signs.

6. List of Control Commission members will be announced by the organizers no later than 1 month after the start of the marathon.

7. The decision of the Control Commission is final and not appealable.
